VINTAGE PHOTO WALK OBERHAUSEN - ZAUBERLEHRLING & HAUS RIPSHORST
Framed by the striking 'Zauberlehrling' artwork in Oberhausen at sunrise and the serene evening ambiance of the RVR-Besucherzentrum Haus Ripshorst, my brief pre-and post-work photography excursions were an adventure, infused with curiosity and creative energy. Armed with the Fuji GFX 50s II and the vintage Asahi Takumar 50mm 1.4 lens, I embarked on these mini-adventures, realizing that such vintage lenses have a unique charm of their own, unmatched by modern counterparts.
These walks reignited my passion for photography. I encourage you to try out an old lens for your own creative explorations. You'll be amazed at the distinct perspectives these vintage lenses offer, elevating your photography skills in ways that new lenses simply can't replicate. In this blog post, I'll share the experiences and inspiration I gathered from these outings and encourage you to embark on your own creative experiments.
ZAUBERLEHRLING
The 'Zauberlehrling,' also known as the 'Dancing Electricity Pole,' is a permanent art installation located in Oberhausen. It was created in conjunction with the Emscherkunst 2013 exhibition and is the work of the Berlin-based artist group 'Inges Idee.'
HAUS RIPSHORST
Haus Ripshorst is a historic estate in Oberhausen that now serves as an information center. Here, you'll find the RVR Visitor Center of the Regional Association Ruhr (RVR), offering comprehensive insights into the region between Duisburg and Hamm. In addition to informative exhibits, you can explore a farmhouse garden and visit the educational beehive maintained by the Beekeeping Association of Oberhausen as part of visits or educational excursions. The property also boasts the nearly two-kilometer-long Ripshorst Arboretum, which runs along the Rhine-Herne Canal and showcases rare tree species.
